Time Table:
7/1 – APPLICATION GOES LIVE / VOLUNTEER REQUEST FORM
8/1 – REVIEW PROCESS BEGINS
9/1 – INITIAL SELECTIONS ARE MADE FOR HUNTERS AND VOLUNTEERS
10/1 – WAITLIST IS FORMED
Hunts occur every weekend October through March, except for holidays, pending available
properties and resources.
Q: When will I be contacted if I am selected?
A: You will be contacted at least 3 weeks before a hunt occurs, unless you are on the waitlist, in
which case you will be offered the next available spot on the next available hunt.
Q: Will I be contacted if I am not selected?:
A: No we will not contact you if you are not selected.
Q: What do I need to do if I am selected?:
A: You will need to be up-to-date on your TWA Associate level membership ($75). You will need to
pay the $200 participation fee, purchase a hunting license, complete hunters education, and
review/sign a number of documents. These items will need to be completed 2-3 weeks prior to to
hunt (depending on initial contact time). failure to complete them will result in you being taken off
the hunt.
Note: to increase your odds of being selected, it is highly recommend that you complete your
hunters education prior to applying to the program. Hunters education can be done online, however
it takes a number of hours to complete. If you are on the waitlist and are contacted and have hunters
education complete, it will make it far more easier to participate in a hunt. you can complete hunters
education here:

Q: What Happens if I am selected, but need to back out of the hunt last minute?
A: We do not offer refunds on the participation fee for last minute drops since goods and resources
have already been purchased for that hunt. You will be added to the bottom of the waitlist.
Q: I wasn’t selected for a hunt? why?
A: In order for us to adequately distribute our resources over the season we try to make initial
selections early. If you did not apply in the first two months, its likely that you wont be selected.
While unfortunate, continuing to read these newsletters will help you stay informed on future events
and opportunities as well as when next season application opens. We have hundreds of applicants
for about 100 spots this season so it is very competitive. A panel of four people select the short list
of applicants, then a smaller group decides which hunts each person goes on.
Q: I wasn’t selected this season, what can I do to improve my odds in the future?
A: completely filling out your application is really important for us to get a good understanding of
you as a hunter. Additionally participating in TWA events and other conservation oriented non-
profits is really helpful. Unfortunately we do not have enough resources to accommodate everyone
who applies. Therefore, our panel is tasked with trying to identifying who is most likely going to
continue their journey as a conservation oriented hunter. People who volunteer in the program, for
TWA in general, and for other non-profits show commitment to conservation, hunting and our
mission. This is a good indication of someone who will likely participate long-term instead of
someone who might just be interested in a one time experience.
