Explore a live alligator's adaptations, including its role in the food chain as an apex predator and discover the differences between alligators and crocodiles.

Robert from Zoomagination introduces Bayou the American alligator. Alligators are found in the south-eastern United States and live in wetland habitats, like swamps and marshes. They have strong armor composed of scales and bony plates called scutes. Like all reptiles, the alligator is ectothermic, or cold-blooded, and relies on its environment to control its temperature, so it basks in the sun to stay warm and will rest in the water to cool down.
