Take an up-close look at a rat, a spider, and a snake; discover how they fit into the food chain; and explore their unique adaptations that bring fear to many.

Meet three creepy critters that people are often scared of: a rat, a Texas brown tarantula, and a desert king snake. Although some may find the rat’s long, bare tail, or the tarantula’s many legs, or the slimy looking, long body of the snake scary, these animals have these unique characteristics for survival purposes. Once you learn more about these adaptations that help these creepy critters survive, you may begin to like these animals more!
