100 years ago, there were only 30,000 wild turkeys left in the United States due to intense market hunting and lack of regulations. Today, there are over 7 million wild turkeys in our country. Hunters, individual landowners, and land stewards are partially responsible for this increase in numbers as they have supported hunting regulations, conservation efforts, and habitat restoration.
